Silver in Mexico
Why Silver in Mexico?
Mexico is the world's leading producer of silver and has occupied the top spot for several years. With a history of mining production spanning over 500 years, Mexico has a skilled mining workforce and relatively low labour costs. Canadian-based companies are major players in mining exploration in Mexico making up a large percentage of active miners.
In 2020, Mexico was first in silver production (5,600 tonnes), followed by Peru (3,400 tonnes) and China (3,200 tonnes).
Mexico with its favourable geology, pragmatic mining regulations and long history of silver mining will remain the number one destination for silver explorers for the foreseeable future.
